Darling Girl Order!

My whole order. I got 2 samples and a Blush as a GWP. The Darling Ghoul is on the left and the Pretty Mistakes are on the right.
My Pretty mistakes make me drool. I felt bad removing the swatches.
The Gifts with Purchas. I got she bop, Vicar in a Tutu, and Doll face!

 Candy Corn Pixie dust.

This is extremely pick heavy. I got so much for so little. I love ordering from Susan, I feel super spoiled when I wear her pretties. Everything is so very pigmented that I feel like I should be paying way more for her stuff then I do. I order two collections. I got the Darling Ghoul Collection of shadows but now I'm thinking I need some of her lippies as well. I also got a petite set of the Pretty Mistakes. I LOVE these. I need to use them more.  Also she does not offer witch's brew which is part of the Darling Ghoul collection and she gave me Jeweled Toupe in its place!

Until next time...

New Years off to a good start.

Hey everyone,

I'm diverting from the makeup and nails for this post. I have some really good stuff to talk about and some not so good stuff but thats life. I'll kind of start from the beginning. I really needed a change of pase for this year. I had done so good for myself academically last year that I really wanted to change myself professionally this year.
I finally found a salon that I'm happy in. I the kind of person that is a loyalist and I will stick something out until I get burned even when I know I need to break away. I was a little hisitant at first because I found the job listed on craigslist. I looked up the salon and found I was interested in the product. NO FUMES. Say it with me ladies. I can't tell you how awsome it is not to breath in that harsh color fumes, and I've done quite a bit of color already for only being there three weeks. We went through an intire order of color in a week. Before she got away with ordering every few weeks. I am finally earning my way again. I don't feel like such a lazy punk kid anymore and I feel like I have a purpose again, and not just a hope and dream. I know that I normally go to work with no clients on the books but I always go home with having done at least one client a day. I get the hands-on education that I have been craving. Yes I'm a bit of a klutz but I still get a sense of accomplishment everytime a client goes home happy.
I used to look at life as a grey tunnel. I had no bright moments to make me feel happy but I wasnt having a hard time either. I was just existing. I hate that feeling. the feeling of not really truely feeling anything. I never want to be there again. I have been taking steps like finding a job to help stay away from that  monogamy. Makeup is a bright place for me. I enjoy doing my makeup and then when I'm done I was back to the grey tunnel. I invite you to get out of your own grey tunnels and to take the steps you need to find the light place. The place of contentment and general happiness that I feel, even when I'm pmsing and dont want to be bothered.
I did get hit with a scam, but I'm moving on from that. I would love to do more photoshoots. Unfortantly I already have a full schedule with work and school (I'm working on a business degree now.). I would love to get back on stage and to act again. I would love to work backstage doing hair and makeup for the shows I dont get casted in. I still have a lot of wants and desires that I want to fufill. I also know that I can only take one day at a time. So far each day has left me tired and waking up with a smile on my face.
I would say my year is getting off to a great start. How about you?

Scamed!

Today is a post I am sad to post about. I have been the target of a scam. I was contacted via third party and I responded to it via email. I asked basic questions. I.E. Location, date, time, Model skin tone, and compensation. I wouldn't minded if I was paid in photos to use for my portfolio. I'm new and I have only done a few shoot.

I got this as a reply:
Hello, I am a freelance modeling agent working for First Female magazine in recruiting Make up artists. First Female Magazine currently wants a Make up artists for a new and special edition of the magazine. We saw your  profile and pictures while surfing the internet, we appreciate them and I would like us  to do some works together. We presently have a good offer for you and we want to know if you are interested doing make up for our company because we need good quality artists to make up our model who will be on the magazine cover of one of next month edition. Please let us know if you are interested in the job as you stand a chance of making reasonable $700 from this deal to start, and even a noticeable fame. This was the most recent of emails and if you notice there is still a lack of information from her as well as to much info from me.

I'm not sorry to say that A.) the english are known for proper EVERYTHING! I had a friend from the UK and she always corrected my english. So the improper grammer and spelling was my first major red flag. B.) This sounds way to good to be true.

What do you think? Too Good or should I respond?

Grimm Collaboration P.2

Yay, a new addition for the Grimm Series. My episode was about Satyrs and in the show the "bad guy" was blue with a beard. I really didn't want to turn myself into a man. So I decided to do my look based on the little frogs he ate to make his feramones stronger. The frogs had a beautiful green body and red/pink feet.
I had been so excited to do this look. I wanted to try an new technique that I had seen Blix, the moonmaiden use a lot. I think I need more practice but over all I'm happy for my first attempt at it.

 Products Used:
       EYES:
Elf Eyelid Primer
Alexeter Mineral Eyeshadow (Romp)
My Beauty Addiction (Rumors)
Elf Liquid Eyeliner (Black)
Hard Candy Take Me Out Eyeliner (Abyss)

Also this is a collaboration with T over at Mineral and Mascara Junkie. Here is her look on the episode Beeware.

Blurple by BonBon (36)

So I was going through my polish collection and found that I have a ton of mini polishes. I figured I go review these figuring that they most likely won't be that great seeing as they are only a dollar. I was blown away by the quality of this polish.

Review 5 /10

Dry Speed: 1 point- It dried nice, no faster than most polishes.
Application: 1 point- It went on streaky the first coat and for the most part the second coat got rid of the streaks.
Price: 1 point- For a dollar you feel like your getting a steal but then compaired to an NYC which is 13 cents cheaper for a full bottle it's hard to buy these unless you know that you don't wear polishes that much. These will only last for 3-5 full manicures.
Wear: 1 point- I got three days of wear with no top coat. Now that is good.
Opaque: 1 point- This polish covered well enough with two coats.

Until next time...

NTMS Lunar Eclipse

This weeks challenge is Lunar Eclipse. I think this was a lot of fun. I was able to break out my molten metals from My Beauty Addiction. I finally found a good use for smolder shadow that is a pain to work with dry but made an excellent liner for this look. I was going for warmth on the outside crease area as well as on the lash line. From pictures that I have seen of lunar eclipses there was a lot of red from the sun.
 Products used:
        FACE:
Covergirl Liquid to Powder Foundation (Classic Ivory)
Mark Matte Powder (Medium)
        EYES:
Elf Mineral Eye Primer (Natural)
Maybelline Eyeshadow Trio (Chocolate Mouse)
Elf Cream Liner (Midnight)
I <3 Matte Palette (Matte Black)
Hot Topic Liner (Red)
My Beauty Addiction Molten Metals (Smolder) w/ Elf Mist and Set
Hard Candy Take Me out Liner (Abyss)
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara (Black Drama)
Eye Closed I applied the molten metal wet and at first it was reallu coppery, but it turned true to color as it dried.

New Hair!

Hey everyone! So as you can tell from the title I did my hair again. Only this time I'm a red head. Not sure how I feel about it. When I was younger I wanted red hair so bad. Now that I'm a cosmetologist I know the kind of up keep this will take. But seeing as this isn't much lighter than my natural hair I think I'll be okay. I also have golden highlights to make my hair more natural looking. It's going to take some getting used to but I like it for the most part. I'm suppose to be getting my hair cut on Tuesday. I think once thats done I'll feel better about the color on me.

So what do you think? Should I go back to the blonde or stay with the red for a bit?

Until next time...

Twany Rose by Mary Kay Color Shield (35)

This is oldy but goody has become one of my go to nude colors. I like how it has just enough yellow to counter balance my pink skin tone. At the same time it looks super natural and looks almost like my skin tone, which is what I was looking for a long time. Then I started to go through my polish collection and Bam! I found this. So today I suggest that you go through your collections and paint your nails or do your makeup in colors that are at the bottom of your stashes. Give them some love because they came into your collection for a reason.

This is after one coat.
Review 7/10

Dry Speed: 0 points- I was still able to ding my polish after two hours of dry time.
Application: 1 point- The formula is really watery. I had to keep cleaning off my brush so I didn't get polish everywhere.
Price: 2 points- I got this as a gift. So I'm not sure how much they normally are.
Wear: 2 points- Four days of wear is perfect.
Opaque: 2 points- It was solid after one coat, which is strange for a watery polish in my experience.

Until next time...

Handmade affordable Polish Rack

I was bored one day about a month ago and started to type in random stuff into youtube search engine. I saw a DIY video on making a polish rack and I wanted to run out and get the materials needed to make this. I was a little worried that it wouldn't be able to support the weight of the polishes mainly because it's made of FOAM BOARD! That's right foam board. I  got mine from the dollar store so it was under $10 to make this. I had to get the board and some extra glue sticks. I already had an everything else I'd need, hot glue gun, x-atco knife, ruler, and a pen. This is suppose to hold up to 90 bottles of polish.

I have put all of the polish that I have reviewed thus far. As you can see the top row is almost full and it doesn't look like its bowing to me. I can't wait to have this mounted on my wall. This also gives me an excuse to keep doing my polish reviews. ;D
Until next time...

Elf Christmas Gift.

Sorry guys that this is a day late. I finally got a job! Yesterday was my first day and I was pooped and went straight to bed once I got home. I Think I have the schedule thing figured out from blogger, but I'm still playing with things. This is a gift from my best friend Holly. She got me some really pretty eyeshadow from ELF for christmas. I was really happy to score the matte gray color Partier! I dont have any mattes in loose form so this made me so happy!

Elegant is a great highlight color. A little bit goes a long ways.

Outdoorsy is a blackned green. Great crease color or to add some depth.

This bad boy is a matte gray. I really like the color still on the fence about the blendablity of this color though.

This is suppose to be a pretty deep plum color with purple and blue sparkle.

These are swatchs in the sun, you can really tell how sparkley they are. I love it. I can't wait to use these more.

Until next time...

Project Pan Januray Edition

Its a new year and for me that means I need to clean out the old. For this year I want to use up all of the products that I have hit pan on. So I went digging through my makeup stash and found all of these items. I plan on using them for everyday use outside of challenges and my Grimm Collabs. I'll be so happy to say, "Look I used up a product completely!" I have enough item to do a full face everyday. I'm thinking about breaking the blush, its so cheap and compacted that my brush only picks up the tiniest amount. I spend like an hour just applying it. I think I'll run out of the foundation first, though we will see.

What are your makeup goals for the year?

Until next time...

NTMS Red/Green Smoky Eye

The week of 12/12-12/19/2011 our makeup challenge was Reverse smokey eye using red and/or green. I really liked this idea. I will be honost I didn't know what a reverse smokey eye was til I looked it up. So I did something really simple yet fun and with some color.

I can't remember all of the products I used. I do know that I didn't use a foundation or a lip product. My blush came in one of those holiday sets so I know you can't get the exact same blush as I used.

Products used:
       EYES:
Hot Topic Liner (Red)
Alexeter Eyeshadow (Romp)
Jesse's Girls Loose Eye (Green)
Hard Candy Liner (Abyss)
Maybelline Falsies Mascara (Black Drama)
I really like how this turned out. And doesn't my iris look a little creep with the brown spots near the puple?

Tease-Y Does It by OPI (34)

Time for another polish review, trust me I have a ton more to review.

I really like this color, it is so multi-cultrual. I know that seems a little wierd to call a polish but look at it, it has a ton of glitter, that isn't a pain to remove, there is great color pigmentation plus the color its self changes from a deep red to a beautiful plum. Its made its way to my polish rack already. I had to apply this a few times because I had lost a nail due to water, but was I unhappy to wear this for more then 2 weeks? No in fact I was a little sad when I actually had to move onto a new polish. Lets get onto the actual review shall we?

Review 9/10

Dry Speed: 1 Point- I got a little heavy handed on one nail and bumped it. I got a dent after an hour of dry time.
Application: 2 points- Other than the brush, it went on great. I'm still learning how to work their massive brush.
Price: 2 points- $4.25 for an OPI = awsomesause.
Wear: 2 points- Four days of wear. (pic was taken on day 3) That's a banging polish for me.
Opaque: 2 points- Glitter was still visable under the polish color.

Until next time...

Darling Girl Cosmetics!

Welcome to 2012 everyone! So I have made a few New Year's resolutions, one of them to blog way more often at least once a day. I'm really hoping to get better at this than I was last year. I went months at a time, which isn't good. So to keep me motivated I'm starting the year right. I didn't post yester day and for good reason. I went fishing with my parents. I got some great pictures for my scrapbook which is a new hobby I've just picked up recently as in a week ago recent. I've notice I'm not great but I like doing it. It has been a great way for me to vent creatively. I love doing my makeup but I hate taking it off to do more than one look. So on with what this post is suppose to be about and thats Darling Girl Cosmetics.

Darling Girl is a great little Indie company. I met the owner through Never to Much Sparkle. Susan the owner is always asking for help and wanting ideas and such. I love how she wants the focus of her products to reflect the wants and needs of buyers. She is always promt on her responses and is an all around sweet owner to work with.
Note: She posts her TAT on the website, as of right now it is taking 14-16 business days. She is hoping to streamline this down 6-10 business days. She is also making some changes to Darling Girl, you can read more about that here.

On to what I ordered. I got sample sizes of the Diamond Dust. These were some of the most amazing colorful eyeshadows ever. I also got 2 other samples with my order.
Here are the Diamond dusts that I got:
*Lucy in the Sky: a gorgeous retro blue with gold iridescence and red/pink diamond dust sparkle.
*Flare: a reddish brown pearl with red/pink diamond dust shimmer.
*Dark Crystal: Deep graphite with color shift from lilac, red/silver to greenish blue with red/pink diamond dust sparkle
*Moon Dust: a gorgeous silvery taupe with tons of 'Diamond Dust'

*Sushi Flower: an amazing iridescent blue/purple with a rainbow of diamond dust sparkle.
*Totally Teal:a almost matte teal base with red/pink Diamond Dust glitter

*Verdant Dream: a gorgeous mint green with a soft violet shift and pink 'Diamond Dust'
*Wood Sprite: a pretty plummy taupe with red/orange flash golden green diamond dust sparkle

My two sample that I got:
*Ice Princess: a lovely lavender pearl with blue and turquoise iridescence
*Peep Show: a beautiful royal blue overlayed with a blue/green iridescence(part of the Naught or Nice collection)

Here are my swatches of the shadows, top half is dry no primer, bottom half is dry on primer:

And just so you can see how SPARKLELY they are:

I love to just look at them! I have used a few of the shadows already and have found the formula to be amazing for me. They have beautiful pigmentation, good staying power, and I went all day with no creasing on my shadows the last time I wore it. All in all I love Darling Girl and am about to place my second order.

Until next time...
